Tom and I went on our dream vacation, a cruise to Egypt, Israel, Greece, Croatia and Italy. Here are some highlights from a few of the places.
GREECE
| We had to get on the subway to get to this point. As we got out of the station pictured above, the others were looking at a map and buying snacks. I was lurking around with my camera checking out the place when I got my first glimpse of this magnificent scene, pictured in the top left of the photo. WOWZERS! That is the Acropolis up there! I got tears in my ears when I saw it. (actually I had a lot of tears on this trip, haha!) |
| Luckily, I had my new 18-200 VRII zoom lens to capture this amazing vantage point. |
| This is in the National Archaeological Museum. There is so much here, it's all WAY old. I kept wondering where they found all the artists to make this stuff. |
| Athena. My sister knew a girl named Athena. I always thought it would be cool to name a girl Athena. She would have to be tall and I knew I wouldn't have a tall daughter. Good thing I knew that. Madison tops out at 5'4", Morgan is a whopping 5'2". Brinley may be tall though. We'll wait and see what happens in the next little while. I may start calling her Athena. And then you will know why. |
| This Artemision Bronze, was found from a ship wreck in the 20's. He represents either Poseidon or Zeus from 2nd century BCE. His eyes would have been inlaid with bone. I had a closer up picture, but I don't want to make this awkward for anyone. |
| I kept thinking to myself, I wonder if they would notice if I just took one of these cute little solid gold artifacts? There were hundreds. I could just take care of it for them. |
| pure gold, see what I mean? |
| Tom standing next to his oldest sister, Jan and her husband Bryson. Carol, Tom's next sister, and her husband Jim. I was hoping the whole time they weren't getting sick of me on our two week vacation together. |

| Walking up to the Acropolis was nothing short of unbelievable to me. It was so breathtaking. I couldn't believe we were there. I kept telling Tom, "We're in Greece!!! We finally made it!!!" |
| The temple of Athena. maybe. I can't remember. |
| This stuff was all over the place, again, I thought how nice it would look in my garden, and do you think anyone would miss it if I just took a few pieces with me? |
| This view is from Mars Hill, a.k.a, the place where the Apostle Paul told the Greeks they were idiots and they needed to worship a real god, instead of all those statues I just showed you pictures of. |
| I love the Greek letters |
| This vacation was full of cats. I tried to take a picture of one in each destination. |
The Parthenon is gigantic, I was blown away at how big it was in real life. I love how Tom looks so much taller than me in this picture. I don't feel like an Amazon next to him in it.

Croatia |

Vision of the Seas from the boardwalk in Split, Croatia

| Here is our Croation kitty taking a stretch. |
| Walking around this city was like opening a present at every turn, you never knew what you would find, when you did find out, you were happy and an awe. |
Split was such a wonderful surprise to us! It was a beautifully quaint and clean city with very nice people. Oh, and they had awesome pizza there!
ITALY
This town is in Burano, Italy. It begged for me to take pictures of it. I didn't see any cats here.

Julie, your pictures are incredible. Every single one of them. What a trip of a lifetime. Your hair is long now! It's weird because you look more like me now. ha ha. That's a compliment. :-)
"a whopping 5'2"
hahaha and proud of it!
I think you should have heisted some of those broken temple pieces. They'd have made for great conversation when company comes over! :)
