Brinley left for her mission on December 16. We snapped this picture just moments before we walked out the door to take her to the MTC in Provo. She had been a little nervous about leaving because she didn't feel like she had done enough to get ready. I don't think anyone feels totally ready to leave for 18 months. I reassured her daily and tried to help her understand that everything would be okay. But she was very excited and wanted to go. I wanted her to know how much we loved her and how we were so proud of her decision to serve. She will have this experience that not a lot of people her age ever get. This is an opportunity of a lifetime that will help frame the rest of her life. Serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a sacrifice. You give up your everyday life as you know it and completely serve your fellow man. You don't get paid, you don't get school credit, you don't date, you don't go to movies, you don't call home except on Mother's Day and Christmas. But there are so many things you DO get to do. The benefits are heavenly ;) So we say goodbye for a season, and then we will be reunited with our precious youngest daughter that we love so very much. She will come back a grown woman of God. She will have life experience that you cannot possibly learn in any other way. No class room teaches the wonderful lessons that she will learn. She will leave the MTC on January 4 and will fly to Dallas, where her mission will begin. This is an awesome time for our daughter. We are so happy for her!!
