If only this could have happened 3 weeks ago... or 3 months ago...

Remember this picture of Nathaniel from the prom last year?  Remember how he looked so nice, with the beautiful mirror in the background?

Sorry, I couldn't resist this shot.

It was here that we sat, innocently, at dinner time when suddenly we heard a little popping noise.  We looked up and I started screaming, "no, no no!!!"  Slowly we saw this antique mirror that we bought in Holland over 18 years ago with two hand-painted Delft candlesticks perched on top, tip forward, top first come crashing onto the floor.  Tom and the kids were all getting up as fast as they could to try and stop the impending doom, but it was too late.

Gee, if only it would have broken before our trip to Holland, I could have replaced the candlesticks there! :((( OR........I could have incorporated the broken pieces in my window sill mosaic.

This cord, which held the mirror on the wall for 18 years, busted.  It just couldn't handle it any more.

The frame received minimal damage, thankfully.  I can just buy a new mirror, the old one was crummy anyway.

Oh, that's unfortunate. I did, nevertheless, enjoy your excellent photography of the tragic mirror drop, especially the one of the broken cord, that had finally given up and the hand painted Delft broken piece.

Luckily your family is intact and safe and secure. That's what matters the most anyway!
