Egypt is incredible in so many ways, I can't even describe it. None of the buildings are finished because if you finish them, then you have to pay taxes. I've never seen so many unfinished construction projects in my life. The people seem to like their leisure time, as all the men just kind of stand around and chat with each other as they enjoy a smoke from their cigarette.
If you look closely, you can see people sitting around. This is what we saw the whole time.
I should take back what I said about nobody working, this is a view from the back of the van showing someone busy.
I took this picture as we were driving into Cairo. When we got our first glimpse of the pyramids of Giza, my heart started pounding!

| In Egypt, trash cans have yet to be discovered. |
 |
| I loved this basket. |
 |
| The cigarette packages have strong warnings. Nobody listens. This is not an extreme picture, in fact, I think it was our driver's mouth. |
I kept waiting for the magic carpet to come out and take us for a ride.
I bet no one ever poses like this in Egypt
 |
| and I'm sure no one has EVER thought of this pose.... |
Jan and Bryson had a Kodak moment with their guide.
I RODE A CAMEL IN EGYPT!!!!!!!! BY THE PYRAMIDS!!!!!!! IT WAS SO COOL!!!!!!
 |
| Yeah I know the Sphinx is cool, but I just need to say my husband is WAY handsome! |
 |
| It's too bad Napoleon and his army decided to use the Sphinx's face as target practice! |
In Egypt the saying is, "nothing is for free in Egypt, except a drink in the Nile." So when I took pictures of this sand artist, another guy tried to get me to pay him some money.

| This is our driver helping us with some roadside purchases |
This lady had set up shop here off the side of the highway, selling dates from the nearby palm trees. She was completely covered, except her eyes.
 |
I know this is blurry, but when you are in a very bumpy ride, you do your best. I loved this family vehicle.
|
When we were buying the dates on the side of the road, truck loads of people zoomed by, and when they saw me they all erupted in shouts and waved. It was so cute. I thought it was just that way with the one group, but then more truckloads passed and they did the same thing. Packed in like sardines, these people made the most out of the smallest thing.
Here is my Egyptian cat.

Your pictures of Egypt ROCK!! I love all of them--the camels, pyramids, the Sphinx, and all the other little details you got (esp. the cigarette packages!! Ewww!). It's those details that make the story more complete. Great job!!
Incredible photos! I really, really, REALLY want to go to Egypt...and ride a camel.
Looking at those pyramids remind me of the movie "Despicable Me!" Are they really 'real' or are they a big balloons? ;) The Sphinx looks WAY smaller than I have envisioned it! Tom's big red "U" shirt at the pyramids still cracks me up, those teeth are disgustingly sick, and the truckload of people driving by waving and all excited is just like India! When they see a white woman (or man) with a camera they go NUTS!
I like that cat. Very dignified looking.
Fun pictures! The buildings are beautiful!
What a gift to have been able to take such an incredible trip to see a part of the world that most of us only see pictures of! You captured some good ones for us too! Thanks, Jules.
