why fuzzy?

I remember having this picture taken. I was 4 years old. In Oklahoma back in the old days the deadline to start kindergarten was November 1st, which is my birthday. My mother always told me she had her labor induced so that she could make sure I was born in time to make the deadline for school. Wow, I got to be the very youngest in the class my whole life!
Back to the question, why fuzzy? Why name the blog, fuzzy pickles? The clever school photographers used to tell us, "say fuzzy pickles!" to make us smile. At the ripe old age of 4 I remember being so shy that I used to shrug my shoulders when someone tried to talk to me. This would explain my posture. I think they must have snapped the shot just as I got out the "uzz".  So there you go, here are some fuzzy pickle shots for you to enjoy, laugh at, or remember some of your own.

You can see I had a bit more confidence in 1st grade. The photographer must have let me get out the whole word before he clicked the picture. (It looks like my roots needed some retouching back then as well)

Do I look like Thomas, or what in this one?

By the time 3rd grade rolled around, all problems with shyness vanished.  My teachers couldn't get me to shut up.  You can see in this picture that despite having very few front teeth, I was no longer afraid of the goofball school photographer.  Maybe this was the grade they started asking you if you had a boyfriend or something like that.

I can't believe how much you look like Thomas in all of them!! I was thinking that from the first picture, and then the next and the next, etc., so it's funny you put that in. School photographer. Now there's a photography job!! Cute pictures.

Thomas, totally. I thought that about the second one especially, then the others too. What a crack up that mom was induced to get you in to school so she wouldn't have to have you around another year. lol. I'm cracking up. I just realized that it's all my fault. Since I was born four years earlier, but five days later, she got stuck with me for another year, then learned her lesson by the time Valerie and you were born. Sorry! I actually liked being oldest! Probably as much as you disliked being youngest in the class.

Fuzzy pickles. Now I get it. I don't remember a photog asking me to say that, but I do recall the year I was asked to say peaches and have a "ch" mouth expression. It's about as cute as your "uz" shot.
